JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for supporting and developing strategic portfolio direction for large boats (33'+) and other assigned Boston Whaler product families by connecting market, consumer, dealer insights with key internal stakeholder feedback. This role will work across the organization with sales, marketing, operations, and Brunswick Boat Group Technology Center to build strategic alignment and drive new product plans and key initiatives related to the success of the product categories. The position will be vital to continue building category management capabilities within the organization and support growth of the Boston Whaler business. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead business case/charter development for new product and technology programs that will provide scope of work for design and engineering to develop world class industry leading products. Develop product line strategy for assigned categories that balances consumer needs, market trends, product lifecycle, technology trends, profitability, manufacturing footprint and operational complexity Work closely with sales and PD&E while monitoring existing product market and financial performance to shape model year activities delivering optimal product performance throughout product lifecycle Establish technology roadmap and portfolio integration priorities in collaboration with Brunswick Boat Group Technology center and enterprise technical leadership Lead the data collection and analysis of all pricing initiatives; work closely with sales, finance, and engineering to determine competitive/market driven pricing Conduct and participate in product research, analyze market data, identify opportunities, and develop compelling insights to facilitate data-based category strategies and tactics Lead and influence cross-functional teams on strategic category issues, processes, and initiatives Collaborate with program managers, marketing, and Brunswick Boat Group Technology center to support delivery of new product programs on time and budget Co-develop launch plans and support execution for new products/features within assigned categories, leveraging enterprise marketing services group for creative and digital execution Act as the product information owner, connecting portfolio, service, marketing, and Tech Center teams to deliver on all product marketing material updates Support development of training material and content on product for assigned categories Assist with business intelligence process to consistently map the competitive environment and use this data to support product, pricing, distribution, and promotion strategies. Lead and execute strategic initiatives to support organizational priorities and goals Contribute to driving company sales / profits and gaining advantage over competitors by driving strategic insights and value-added tools/processes/programs. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business or similar along with 5-7 years of general business experience Minimum 2 years of previous product or category management experience developing product and portfolio strategies is desired Boating or recreational industry experience is ideal Proven successes with project management, trend and opportunity identification and portfolio insight. Proven experience leading cross-functional teams. Understanding of core marketing levers:
Price, Product, Place, Promotion Ability to interpret and analyze data, use the insights to develop strategies and tactics that will influence consumers Ability to communicate the findings to various stakeholders and effectively integrate them to tell fact-based stories to drive Category solutions Excellent communication and influencing skills, be able to work in a team environment, and be customer/market oriented Ability to collaborate and inspire groups across functions to action. Ability to build relationships and credibility among key stakeholders. Be curious about understanding consumer behaviors and not afraid of challenging the status quo Must be a self-starter capable of working both independently, as well as part of a team and have proven attention to detail. Execution focused / able to make things happen in a matrixed environment LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Have an excellent command of data and data presentation (articulate, accurate). Manage and proactively report on several projects at any given time. Think big while managing the small details through to completion. Possess intellectual curiosity and passion. Provide category and direct product expertise, market trend, competitive analysis.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Business DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
